Cheteshwar Pujara and Shreyas Iyer battled for half a century as India reached his 6-for-278 in the stumps on the opening day of the first test against Bangladesh. Pujara (90) missed his century, but Iyer was unbeaten at 82, so he stayed on the 100 courses. Rishabh Pant's 45-ball counter 46 helped India stabilize the innings after an early hit. Axar Patel, 13, was ejected on the last pitch of the day. In Bangladesh, Taijur Islam (3/84) made the biggest impression with 3 wickets for 81 runs. India lost the second skipper KL Rahul (22), Shubman Gil (20), and, Virat Kohli (1) after making an at-bat in the morning session.
